2 Lions on the Roster Bubble Who Could Be Cut Soon

The Detroit Lions have some tough roster decisions ahead, and two veterans—Za’Darius Smith and Graham Glasgow—could be on the chopping block as the team looks to free up cap space.

Smith, acquired in a midseason trade with the Browns, provided a boost to Detroit’s pass rush, but his $5.7 million cap hit for 2025 may be too steep. The Lions can release him before March 15 without any dead cap, making him a prime candidate for a cut.

Meanwhile, Glasgow, who returned to Detroit last offseason, struggled to meet expectations on the offensive line. Cutting him would create $2.1 million in cap savings, though it would also result in $5.3 million in dead cap.

The Lions are focused on building a Super Bowl-contending roster, and moves like these could help them reallocate funds to bigger priorities. Will they pull the trigger on these cuts, or find a way to make it work?
