2025 Lions Free Agency: 3 QB Targets for Detroit to Consider

The Detroit Lions are set at quarterback with Jared Goff, but they may look to add depth in free agency. With Hendon Hooker and Jake Fromm as the only backups currently under contract, Detroit could bring in a veteran or a developmental project to round out the QB room.

Three potential options include former first-rounders Trey Lance and Zach Wilson, along with ex-Bucs backup Kyle Trask. Lance has a connection to Detroit’s new tight ends coach from his college days and could be an affordable project. Wilson, who worked with OC John Morton in Denver, has more starting experience but struggles with decision-making under pressure. Trask, meanwhile, has barely seen the field in the NFL but is praised for his football IQ.

None of these quarterbacks would challenge Goff, but the Lions may want a more experienced backup to compete with Hooker. Free agency kicks off on March 10, so we’ll soon see if Detroit makes a move.
