2025 NFL 5th-Year Option Costs: Hutchinson & Williams’ Price Revealed

The Detroit Lions have a big decision to make regarding Aidan Hutchinson and Jameson Williams as the 2025 NFL fifth-year option figures are officially set. With the league’s salary cap locked in at $279.2 million, the cost for extending these two 2022 first-round picks for an extra season is now clear.

For Hutchinson, the Lions would need to pay $19.87 million for the 2026 season, thanks to his Pro Bowl selection. However, Detroit is expected to pursue a long-term extension rather than just picking up his option. Williams, on the other hand, would cost $15.49 million—considerably lower due to his lack of Pro Bowl appearances and limited early playing time. But after his first 1,000-yard season, he could be a bargain at that price compared to other top receivers in 2026.

The Lions have until May 1 to make their decision. While Hutchinson’s future in Detroit seems secure, Williams’ long-term outlook remains uncertain. Will the Lions commit to both players, or will they take a different approach before the deadline?
