Jared Goff Secures Offensive MVP
Jared Goff kicked off the flag football game as the NFC’s starting quarterback and wasted no time getting the team on the board. He led three scoring drives, tallying 126 passing yards and three touchdowns, according to the broadcast. His stellar performance earned him the Offensive MVP award as the NFC claimed a 76-63 victory.
Earlier in the weekend, Goff also won the precision passing event on Thursday, making it a memorable Pro Bowl experience for the Lions quarterback.
Jahmyr Gibbs Shines on Defense
Toward the end of the game, players began switching positions for fun, and Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs tried his hand at cornerback. On a two-point conversion attempt intended for Marvin Mims Jr., Gibbs made a jaw-dropping leap and snatched the ball for an interception. He likely would’ve returned it for a touchdown had half the AFC squad not swarmed him from the sidelines.
Brian Branch Gets a Pick of His Own
Safety Brian Branch showed why he’s a rising star in the Lions’ secondary. Even though the league’s interception leader didn’t receive a Pro Bowl nod, Branch stepped up and intercepted Joe Burrow on a pass intended for Joe Mixon, adding another highlight for the Lions’ defense.
Lions OL Dominate Skill Events
Detroit’s offensive linemen also made their presence felt. Taylor Decker participated in a tug-of-war event and helped his team secure victory. Meanwhile, center Frank Ragnow competed in a relay race alongside Tristan Wirfs, flipping oversized tires. Their efforts led the NFC team to victory in the race.
Jack Fox’s Close Call
Punter Jack Fox represented the NFC in an accuracy competition against the Jaguars’ Logan Cooke. The two had to punt footballs into six trash cans set up in a triangle 30 yards away, reminiscent of an NBA three-point contest. Fox and Cooke tied not once but twice. In sudden death, Cooke narrowly claimed victory, but Fox’s performance was nothing short of impressive.
Overall, the Lions left their mark on the Pro Bowl, with standout performances and memorable moments from nearly every player in attendance. It was a weekend to remember for Detroit fans.
