Before the Cardinals’ series against the Mets, things were looking good for them, especially at the plate. They were leading the league in batting average (.280) and on-base percentage (.348), second in hits, and top five in slugging and OPS. But their offense hit a wall during the four-game series, only managing a .171 batting average and striking out 43 times. They also struggled with runners in scoring position, going just 4-for-27.

New York Giants

Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara are really making waves in New York after Russell joined the Giants. He’s been super vocal about wanting to play for the team, and now that he’s there, he’s fully embracing the Big Apple life—getting out to meet fans and attending events.

NCAA

The NFL Draft is just around the corner, and as teams prepare to make their first-round picks, let’s take a look back at one of the best No. 4 picks in draft history: Walter Payton, selected by the Chicago Bears in 1975. Payton went on to break all sorts of records, including rushing yards and touchdowns, surpassing even the legendary Jim Brown. He was a five-time first-team All-Pro, a nine-time Pro Bowler, and took home the 1977 MVP award. Plus, he led the Bears to their only Super Bowl victory during the 1985 season. Talk about a legend!

Mark Vientos wasn’t in the Mets lineup on Sunday after tweaking his groin during Saturday’s game against the Cardinals. He made a slick leaping grab before exiting in the fifth inning. Manager Carlos Mendoza said Vientos felt better and might be available off the bench, but they’re taking it day by day.
