Looks like the New York Giants might be making some moves during the 2025 NFL Draft. ESPN insider Adam Schefter listed three Giants players who could be trade bait: edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux, offensive tackle Evan Neal, and wide receiver Jalin Hyatt.
These guys were all recent draft picks, but they haven’t quite lived up to expectations—especially considering two were top-10 picks. That’s not a great look for GM Joe Schoen, who drafted both Thibodeaux and Neal early in his tenure.
Thibodeaux hasn’t been terrible, but he hasn’t been a game-changer either. Some people think the Giants might move him if they take another edge rusher, like Abdul Carter from Penn State, with the No. 3 pick. That would give them a fresh start with a cheaper rookie contract. What they’d get back for Thibodeaux isn’t clear though.
Neal, on the other hand, has struggled and could be moved just to dump his nearly $8 million cap hit. His fifth-year option would cost over $16 million, and there’s no way the team is picking that up. They’ve added depth on the line and could try him at guard, but it’s more likely they just cut their losses.
As for Jalin Hyatt, he’s been frustrated with his role and lack of playing time. The team brought back veteran Darius Slayton instead of giving Hyatt a bigger opportunity, which might say a lot about their plans for him. Even though Schoen traded up to get Hyatt in 2023, his time with the team might be coming to an end.
Decisions on the fifth-year options for Thibodeaux and Neal are due soon after the draft. Thibodeaux’s would cost about $14.75 million, which isn’t awful for a solid edge rusher, but the Giants already have a lot of money tied up in other guys on the D-line.
Bottom line: don’t be surprised if at least one of these players gets moved during draft weekend. The Giants seem ready to shake things up.
