3 Positions the Lions Desperately Need to Fix Before the Trade Deadline

Sunday’s loss was more than just another “off day” for the Detroit Lions — it exposed some major cracks in the roster that can’t be ignored any longer. With the trade deadline fast approaching, GM Brad Holmes has some tough decisions to make if this team wants to stay in the NFC North race.

Let’s be real — the Lions have talent. But certain positions have turned into major liabilities, and reinforcements could make the difference between a playoff push and another late-season fade.

1. Offensive Line:
Protection broke down badly against the Vikings. Jared Goff spent most of the game dodging pressure, and the run game was practically nonexistent. Injuries have hurt this unit, but a midseason trade for a reliable interior lineman could steady the ship.

2. Cornerback:
The secondary has struggled to contain big plays, especially against quick passing attacks. The lack of depth has been glaring, and another physical corner who can handle man coverage would immediately boost this defense.

3. Edge Rusher:
Aidan Hutchinson can’t do it all alone. The Lions’ pass rush needs another threat off the edge to take pressure off their star defender. Without more consistent heat on quarterbacks, opposing offenses will continue to pick apart the secondary.

If Holmes can land even one difference-maker at these positions, the Lions could stabilize quickly. But if they stand pat, Sunday’s struggles might just be a preview of what’s to come.
