Patriots Could Target Star Tight End if Ravens Cut Him Loose
The Patriots haven’t exactly been cheap this offseason. They’ve already made some splashy signings, picking up guys like Stefon Diggs, Harold Landry, and Milton Williams. But there might be more spending on the horizon especially if one big-name tight end hits the market.
Mark Andrews, the longtime Ravens standout, could be on the chopping block after a rough playoff run. And if Baltimore does let him go, the Patriots might be ready to pounce.
According to Musket Fire’s Sara Marshall, Andrews would be a dream signing for New England. He’s been a steady weapon for the Ravens since 2018, and even though it seems crazy to think a player like him might be available, things went south fast for him in the postseason making a release possible.
Marshall even compared the potential Andrews-Hunter Henry combo to the Gronk-Hernandez era (minus the drama). With Henry coming off a quietly strong season 66 catches and 674 yards adding Andrews would give Drake Maye some serious firepower as he heads into year two.
Andrews wasn’t exactly slacking either last season, racking up 673 yards and 11 touchdowns. His playoff struggles aside, he’d be a major upgrade and possibly one of the best free agent grabs in recent memory if the Patriots pulled it off.
If that doesn’t work out, the Patriots could still look to the draft. There are some solid Day 2 tight ends available like Harold Fannin, Orande Gadsen, Mason Taylor, and Elijah Arroyo all of whom could bring extra juice to the passing game.
Even with Hooper and Jaheim Bell on the roster, it wouldn’t hurt to give Maye another reliable target as the team tries to rebuild its offense from the ground up.
