7 Reasons Liz Truss Got It Wrong About Trump’s Claims”

Liz Truss recently declared that Donald Trump has been right about “pretty much everything,” but this opinion might be a stretch. Here’s why some of her points don’t hold up:

1. Trump’s Tariffs and the ‘Elite’
Trump’s tariffs, including those on China, shocked the global economy, hurting big companies like Tesla, Nike, and Apple. But the so-called “elite” isn’t universally against them. In fact, many connected to the administration even profited before tariffs were paused, while millions of Americans continue to struggle.

2. Pulling Out of the Paris Climate Agreement
Trump pulled the US out of the Paris Climate Agreement, arguing it hurt the West economically. But the US is one of the biggest polluters globally, and investing in clean energy could actually be more cost-effective in the long run.

3. The US-China Trade War
Trump’s trade war with China has led to significant tariffs from both sides, and while this may seem like standing up to China, it’s created a global economic headache that could hurt economies worldwide.

4. Covid Lockdowns Were a Lifesaver
Truss criticizes Covid lockdowns, but they likely saved millions of lives before vaccines were available. Studies show that lockdowns were crucial in preventing massive deaths.

5. Trump’s ‘Deep State’ and Democracy
Truss has blamed “unelected bureaucrats” for her downfall, but Trump himself has been accused of undermining democracy by filling his government with loyalists and even trying to extend his presidency beyond two terms.

6. Immigration as an Economic Asset
Truss argues that mass migration has been disastrous, but immigration actually helps fill labor shortages and boosts economic growth, especially in aging populations like the UK’s.

7. British Steel’s Struggles and China’s Role
Truss claims China’s actions are to blame for the collapse of British Steel, but the real issue is rising energy costs and domestic policy not any supposed international sabotage.

In short, while Truss may admire Trump, the reality behind his policies and their effects is more complex than she suggests.
