Alabama Shoots the Lights Out Against BYU
Alabama put on an absolute clinic from deep, knocking down an NCAA Tournament record 25 three-pointers in a 113-88 blowout win over BYU. Mark Sears led the way, draining 10 threes on his way to 34 points and 8 assists—just one three-pointer shy of tying the all-time individual tournament record. Aden Holloway chipped in with 23 points, hitting six threes of his own.
BYU’s Richie Saunders dropped 25 points, and Egor Demin had 15 points and 7 assists, but the Cougars just couldn’t keep up. They dominated inside, outscoring Alabama 50-16 in the paint, but a 6-for-30 night from beyond the arc (20%) sealed their fate.
Alabama (28-8) is now eyeing a second straight Final Four appearance.
Duke Holds Off Arizona Behind Freshman Phenom
Duke’s Cooper Flagg showed why he’s the real deal, dropping 30 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks in a 100-93 win over Arizona.
The Blue Devils (34-3) caught fire in the second half, making 13 straight shots at one point to take control. But Arizona wasn’t going away quietly—Caleb Love went off for 35 points, leading a furious comeback that fell just short. Kon Knueppel (20 points) and Sion James (16 points) helped Duke hold on, while Jaden Bradley (15 points) and Henri Veesaar (13 points) kept Arizona (24-13) in the fight.
Florida Cruises Past Maryland
Florida handled business with an 87-71 win over Maryland, thanks to a balanced attack that saw six Gators score in double figures. Will Richard led the way with 15 points, while Alijah Martin (14 points) and Walter Clayton Jr. (13 points) also chipped in.
The Gators (33-4) dominated the boards, out-rebounding Maryland 42-20 and flexing their depth with a 29-3 advantage in bench points.
Maryland’s Derik Queen was a bright spot, dropping 27 points in what could be his final college game before heading to the NBA. Ja’Kobi Gillespie added 17 points, but it wasn’t enough.
Texas Tech Stuns Arkansas in OT Thriller
It took overtime and some late-game heroics, but Texas Tech pulled off an 85-83 comeback win over Arkansas.
Darrion Williams had a rough night early, but he hit a deep three with 9 seconds left in regulation to force OT, then finished it off with a driving layup in the final seconds of overtime.
Christian Anderson (22 points) and JT Toppin (20 points) led the charge for Texas Tech (28-8), while Kevin Overton provided 12 points off the bench.
Arkansas (22-14) will be kicking themselves for letting this one slip away. Johnell Davis dropped 30 points, and Karter Knox added 20, but they blew a 16-point second-half lead.
What’s Next?
With the Elite Eight now set, Alabama, Duke, Florida, and Texas Tech will fight for a spot in the Final Four. If Thursday was any indication, we’re in for some more madness.
