No Holdout Here? Micah Parsons Expected at Cowboys’ Voluntary Workouts

The Dallas Cowboys expect star linebacker Micah Parsons to show up for voluntary workouts on Monday, even though he’s still negotiating a massive contract extension.

Reports say Parsons is eyeing a record-breaking $200 million deal, which would make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. Some thought he might skip workouts until he secured the bag, but Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer isn’t worried.

“At the end of the day, this is a business. When you’re dealing with money like this, negotiations take time,” Schottenheimer said at the NFL’s annual meeting. “Micah said he’ll be around, and I think we’re all comfortable with that.”

With DeMarcus Lawrence no longer on the team, Parsons has the chance to step up as a leader. Schottenheimer says Parsons is excited about the opportunity and believes great teams have their best players leading the way.

Parsons, 25, has been a force since entering the league, earning a Pro Bowl nod every season so far. Last year, he racked up 12 sacks, 43 tackles, and two forced fumbles in 13 games. In his career, he’s got 52.5 sacks, 112 QB hits, and nine forced fumbles in just 63 games.

While the contract talks continue, the Cowboys seem confident Parsons will be in the building and ready to roll.
