In 2024, the Patriots didn’t exactly set up Drake Maye for success, but despite that, he still showed plenty of promise. The team did try to help by adding some offensive players, but none of them really stood out in Year 1, except for Maye, who looks like a long-term star.
As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, ESPN analyst Ryan Clark gave Maye some huge praise, saying the Patriots need to build a solid team around him. Clark called Maye a “stud” and emphasized that the hardest part of building a successful team is finding the right quarterback, which the Patriots have done with Maye. He also pointed out that Maye has shown he can make something out of nothing, or as Clark put it, “make lemonade out of tomatoes.”
Now, Clark is urging the Patriots to get Maye more help whether it’s adding new players like Mack Hollins and Stefon Diggs, or improving the offensive line. With Maye as their starter, the Patriots can spend big in free agency, so they just need to focus on getting the right pieces around him. Maye’s potential could take the team a long way, especially now that they’ve made some defensive improvements too.
