Detroit Explores Signing Former Chicago Bear DeMarcus Walker for Defensive Boost

The Detroit Lions are reportedly exploring veteran pass-rusher options ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft and have met with DeMarcus Walker, a free agent, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Walker, who was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos, has spent time with the Broncos, Texans, Titans, and Bears.

Walker’s most recent seasons have been productive, posting 3.5 sacks and 16 quarterback hits with the Chicago Bears. He could provide valuable depth for the Lions, particularly after their struggles with injuries at edge rusher last season. While Walker likely won’t impact the Lions’ draft strategy, his experience and consistent health could add flexibility to the team’s defensive line in 2025.
