Browns Could Trade for Breece Hall as a Nick Chubb Replacement
Nick Chubb might not be back in Cleveland, and the Browns could be eyeing a new RB1. A trade idea floating around would send two draft picks a 3rd and a 6th rounder to the Jets for Breece Hall.
Chubb’s recent injuries have made his future pretty uncertain. After a brutal knee injury in 2023 and then a broken foot in 2024, he’s had a rough couple years. His production dipped, and it’s unclear if the Browns want to count on him as their lead back again.
Why Breece Hall?
Hall’s still young, explosive, and can catch passes too. Even after an ACL tear his rookie year, he bounced back and put up solid numbers. Last season, he had 876 rushing yards and 483 receiving yards. He’s dynamic and could instantly upgrade the Browns’ offense.
What Would It Cost?
A 3rd-round pick (No. 67) and a 6th-round pick (No. 216). Not cheap, but doable. The Browns have cap space over $17 million and could try to lock Hall into a long-term deal instead of just a one-year rental.
Big Picture
The Browns are clearly in reset mode. Owner Jimmy Haslam even admitted the Deshaun Watson move was a bust. Right now, Kenny Pickett is the only healthy QB on the roster, so the team needs offensive help across the board not just at QB, but also at RB and WR.
If Chubb doesn’t return, Jerome Ford would likely be the starter, but adding someone like Hall would give the offense a real boost.
