The Bengals are bringing in Nebraska defensive tackle Ty Robinson for a pre-draft visit as they look to solidify their roster. Robinson, who started for five years at Nebraska, ended his 2024 season with 12.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks. He’s played all across the defensive line, making him a versatile option for the Bengals to consider. If he can bring pressure to the quarterback from the interior, he could find himself getting playing time right away.
Last season, the Bengals finished with a 9-8 record despite a star-studded offense led by Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. However, their defense struggled, and even though Trey Hendrickson led the league in sacks with 17.5, the team still finished in the bottom 10 for total sacks. Adding a pass-rusher at the defensive tackle position could fill the gap left since Geno Atkins’ departure.
Robinson is one of several defensive linemen the Bengals are checking out ahead of the draft. They’ve also met with other potential draft picks, including James Pearce, Walter Nolen, Ty Hamilton, and Omarr Norman-Lott. With so many talented defensive linemen in this year’s draft, the Bengals will likely snag a good player at either edge rusher or defensive tackle.
Robinson is ranked as the 11th-best defensive tackle in this draft by ESPN, while PFF has him at 22nd. He’s expected to be a third or fourth-round pick, so it’ll be interesting to see if the Bengals take a shot at him this April.
