Giants Flirt with FSU Connection Again, Host DE DeMarcus Walker

Former FSU Star DeMarcus Walker Visits Giants Amid Free Agent Search

The New York Giants could be eyeing another former Florida State standout to bolster their defense. Veteran edge rusher DeMarcus Walker visited the team this week, per ESPN’s Peter Schrager, as the franchise continues to evaluate pass-rushing help before the draft.

Walker, 30, is coming off one of his most complete NFL seasons with the Chicago Bears, racking up 47 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 16 QB hits, and 7 tackles for loss. He was released by Chicago in February in a cap-saving move and has since drawn interest from several teams, including the New Orleans Saints.

There’s a notable connection in New York — Giants defensive coordinator Shane Bowen coached Walker during his productive 2022 stint in Tennessee. That familiarity could give Walker a leg up if the Giants opt to add experienced depth behind Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux.

The former second-round pick has played in 100 career games, tallying 26.5 sacks and 191 tackles. If signed, he would join fellow FSU alums Jameis Winston, Graham Gano, and Burns on the Giants’ roster.
