Draft Drama: Shedeur Sanders Has a Message for the Giants

Shedeur Sanders made one thing clear after visiting the Steelers on April 10 — if a QB-needy team like the Giants or Browns passes on him in the draft, it’ll be their mistake to live with.

Talking to Kay Adams at the Pittsburgh airport, Sanders rated his meeting with Mike Tomlin and the Steelers a “10 out of 10,” even comparing Tomlin’s leadership style to his dad, Deion Sanders. “I get his mindset,” Shedeur said. “The way he runs things, it’s similar to how my dad does it. That’s why they win.”

When Adams asked whether it was fair for a guy like him to land with a 10-win team, Sanders didn’t hesitate: “That’s on them. That’s on the other franchises that make that mistake and let me go there.”

That’s classic Shedeur — confident, bold, and completely sure of what he brings to the table. And if you’ve followed his pre-draft journey, this isn’t the first time he’s thrown some shade at teams that might pass on him.

Back at his pro day, Sanders told Louis Riddick, “All I need is an opportunity… You’d be a fool not to pick me.” At the combine? Same energy: “If you ain’t trying to change the culture, don’t [pick] me.”

Love him or hate him, Sanders doesn’t lack belief in himself — and that’s exactly what you want in a QB. He’s been a program-changer in college, and he believes he can do the same in the NFL.

Giants at No. 3: Still in Play for Sanders?

The Giants’ offseason has been all over the place. Early on, it looked like Shedeur-to-NY was a done deal. But then came the Stafford rumors. Then Rodgers. Then Winston and Russell Wilson. Basically, the Giants seemed more interested in any veteran QB than drafting a rookie.

Now, insiders say the Giants are leaning toward Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter with the No. 3 pick. That suggests they’re not completely sold on Sanders, or any QB in this class.

But it could also be a giant (no pun intended) smokescreen. If they do pick Sanders, GM Joe Schoen deserves credit for one of the best draft-week poker faces in recent memory.

One thing’s for sure: if the Giants or Browns pass on Shedeur and he turns into the next great NFL QB somewhere else — especially in Pittsburgh — they’re going to hear about it. From him.
