As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, the Lions may be preparing to part ways with a familiar face on offense. Tight end Brock Wright, who served as Detroit’s No. 2 tight end last season, is shaping up to be a likely roster casualty. Despite logging over 50% of the offensive snaps and helping out on special teams, Wright’s blocking grades were underwhelming, and his production in the passing game was minimal.
Detroit already added Kenny Yeboah in free agency and brought back Shane Zylstra, signaling that Wright’s grip on the TE2 spot is slipping. With seven picks in this year’s draft—including two in the seventh round—it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Lions invest in a young, high-upside blocking tight end. Wright may have held the job last year, but with new faces and potential rookies entering the mix, his time in Honolulu Blue could be coming to an end.
