State Department Staff Told to Report Religious Discrimination Under Trump Order

Trump Team Tells State Department to Report ‘Anti-Christian Bias’ at Work

The Trump administration is asking U.S. State Department staff to flag any signs of “anti-Christian bias” among their coworkers, according to a new report from Politico.

Apparently, a message sent out under Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s name told U.S. embassies worldwide to report incidents   anonymously, if needed  describing any discrimination or hostility toward Christians. The cable reportedly asked for details like names, dates, and locations to be included in any reports.

This all ties into an executive order Trump signed back in February, which created a task force focused on investigating claims of anti-Christian discrimination across the federal government.

While the order mainly focuses on bias against Christians, the message also stressed that any kind of religious discrimination is illegal and goes against the Constitution.

One anonymous State Department staffer called the whole thing “very  Handmaid’s Tale-esque,” hinting that it feels a little dystopian.

So far, the State Department hasn’t made any public comments about the report.
