Is Hendon Hooker’s Time in Detroit Already Running Out?

The Detroit Lions seem to be quietly moving on from Hendon Hooker, and their recent moves make it hard to argue otherwise. From signing veterans like Kyle Allen and leaning on Teddy Bridgewater late last season, to rumors of eyeing late-round quarterback talent in the upcoming draft, the writing might be on the wall. Hooker, once seen as a developmental piece with potential, is now fighting for relevance — and maybe even a roster spot.

There’s growing buzz that the Lions could use a Day 3 pick on a new project quarterback, and three names have emerged as possible fits. Minnesota’s Max Brosmer is a smart, accurate passer who fits a play-action offense. Ohio State’s Will Howard offers size, toughness, and mobility, despite inconsistency as a thrower. And perhaps the most intriguing option, Notre Dame’s Riley Leonard, brings athleticism and upside if Detroit believes they can coach him into a more refined passer.

Whether it’s through the draft or even signing an undrafted rookie, the Lions seem set on bringing in someone new. And if that happens, it could mark the end of the road for Hooker in Detroit before his career ever really got going.
