Cowboys’ Interior O-Line Plans: What Could Happen Next
The Cowboys have some decisions to make when it comes to their interior offensive line.
Right now, replacing Zack Martin is at the top of their to-do list. He’s been a staple on that line for years, and finding a replacement won’t be easy. At left guard, Tyler Smith has been killing it, earning back-to-back Pro Bowl selections. The question for him now is how much the Cowboys will pay him, since his contract is up for renewal soon. Expect him to be one of the next players to get an extension.
At center, Cooper Beebe showed promise in his rookie year, and it sounds like the coaching staff is happy with him and wants to keep him there. So, that leaves right guard as the biggest question mark. Players like Jones, Charles, Brock Hoffman, and T.J. Bass will all battle for the spot.
So what’s next? The Cowboys could be looking at the draft to fill that hole. With the 12th pick, they might go for an offensive lineman again. Last year they took Tyler Guyton as a potential tackle, but this time they might target a college tackle who can shift to guard. Players like LSU’s Will Campbell, Missouri’s Armand Membou, or Texas’ Kelvin Banks Jr. could be options. If they want an immediate starter to replace Martin, picking one of these guys early could be the way to go.
