Lions’ $9M CB Amik Robertson Reportedly on Trade Block

The Detroit Lions could be shaking things up again—this time by potentially moving on from cornerback Amik Robertson during the NFL Draft.

Robertson signed with Detroit just last offseason, but he might already be on the way out. With the Lions adding Avonte Maddox and DJ Reed to a revamped secondary, it looks like Robertson’s role could be fading fast. Sources say the team might listen to offers to see if they can land a worthwhile draft pick in return.

The Lions’ secondary was hit hard by injuries late last year, which showed up big time in their playoff loss to Washington. Now, the front office is clearly in reset mode, and Robertson could be the odd man out. The former fourth-round pick from Louisiana Tech played just one year in Detroit, and with Maddox likely stepping into the slot role, there might not be a place for him anymore.

That said, there are a few teams that could definitely use help in the secondary. Baltimore, New Orleans, Kansas City, Washington, and the Chargers all make sense as landing spots for Robertson—whether as a depth piece or a rotational guy who still has something to offer.

Keep an eye on this one. If the right offer comes through, don’t be surprised to see Robertson in a new uniform before the draft weekend is over.
