Cowboys Set to Double Down on Offense with WR, RB in Opening Rounds”

Cowboys Eye Offensive Firepower in First Two Rounds of NFL Draft

After a rough 7-10 season and missing the playoffs for the first time in four years, the Dallas Cowboys are making moves. Jerry Jones swapped out head coach Mike McCarthy for offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, giving him his first shot at running an NFL team.

With the 2025 NFL Draft just around the corner, the Cowboys have some serious work to do — especially on offense. The team finished 17th in scoring last season and struggled to find the end zone, ranking dead last in rushing touchdowns.

Now, a top draft expert thinks Dallas is going all-in on offense in the early rounds. The Athletic’s Dane Brugler predicts the Cowboys will grab Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden with their 12th overall pick. Brugler says Golden would be a perfect fit next to CeeDee Lamb, with the versatility to play inside or outside and create better throwing options for Dak Prescott. Golden had a big final season with Texas, leading the SEC with nine touchdown catches and averaging 17 yards per grab.

In the second round, Brugler sees the Cowboys taking Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins at pick 44. Judkins would fill a major need for a ground game that struggled badly last season. He racked up over 1,000 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns last year with the Buckeyes. Before that, Judkins dominated the SEC at Ole Miss, scoring 16 TDs in 2022 and 15 in 2023.

If Dallas wants to keep up with the reigning Super Bowl champion Eagles and the surging Commanders in the NFC East, these draft picks are going to be key.
