How the Vikings Could Win the 2025 NFL Draft with One Bold Trade

The Minnesota Vikings were riding high during the 2024 regular season, finishing 14-3 and looking every bit like Super Bowl contenders. But two big losses—one to the Detroit Lions in Week 17 and another to the Rams in the Wild Card round—brought their promising season to a screeching halt.

Now, with the 2025 NFL Draft just around the corner, the Vikings are looking to bounce back and reload. They’ve already been busy in free agency, plugging holes along both the offensive and defensive lines. Veteran center Ryan Kelly and guard Will Fries were signed to solidify the interior O-line, while defensive tackles Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Allen were brought in to fortify the trenches.

But here’s the catch—the Vikings only have four draft picks heading into draft weekend: a first-rounder at No. 24, then selections in the third, fifth, and sixth rounds. That’s why the smartest move might be trading down from that first-round slot. If GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah can flip the No. 24 pick for a second-rounder and additional mid-round selections, Minnesota could walk away with more depth at key positions like cornerback, safety, and wide receiver.

They’ve already done the heavy lifting in free agency. Now it’s about building a complete roster. And if they play it right on draft night, this team could be even more dangerous in 2025.
