In Paris, talks are underway to discuss ending the war between Russia and Ukraine, with leaders from the US, France, Germany, Great Britain, and Ukraine all involved. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio shared some key points about the meeting on social media.
Rubio said Trump was very clear about the situation: it’s time to put an end to the war. He tweeted, “President Trump made it clear this conflict between Russia and Ukraine has gone on long enough. Today, in Paris, I met with leaders from France, the UK, Germany, and Ukraine to figure out how we can stop the violence and bring about a fair, lasting peace.”
The meeting, which took place on April 18, included Rubio, special envoys Keith Kellogg and Steve Witkoff, and officials from the other countries, including French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian representatives, such as Andriy Yermak, Ukraine’s President’s Office head.
During the discussions, they talked about a ceasefire, security guarantees for Ukraine, and the possibility of having a multinational force involved in peacekeeping. They also touched on important humanitarian issues like the return of Ukrainian children who were forcibly taken to Russia and the release of prisoners of war.
It’s clear from these talks that everyone’s pushing for peace, but the road ahead remains tough.
