Barry Sanders Jokingly Jealous of Lions’ Fancy New Locker Room

The Detroit Lions just unveiled a sleek new locker room at their Allen Park facility, and it’s got Barry Sanders feeling a bit nostalgic — and maybe even a little jealous.

The new setup ditches the old-school look for a much darker, modern vibe. Think black seats, redesigned lockers, and overhead storage, all looking way more high-end than the basic cages players had back in the day.

Sanders had some fun on social media, sharing an old photo of himself sitting on a stool in front of the old locker style, holding a book, and asking, “Has it really been that long since I played?”

The upgrade comes after the Lions’ locker room got a mediocre grade (a C-plus) on the NFL Players Association’s annual report card. While most players said they had enough space, the room still ranked near the bottom compared to other teams.

Team president Rod Wood said the locker room was at the top of the players’ wish list for improvements. The team is also working on upgrades to the weight room and training facilities.

According to Wood, some feedback came from internal surveys, while other parts were driven by public comparisons with other teams. “Some of it’s what we’re hearing straight from the guys,” he said. “Some is from the league’s public survey, but we want to focus on what our players actually want.”
