Milroe had a solid season: he completed just over 64% of his passes, threw for nearly 2,850 yards, had 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. On the ground, he was even more impressive—racking up 726 rushing yards and scoring 20 touchdowns.
Even with those numbers, ESPN personality Paul Finebaum isn’t exactly sold. On his show, Finebaum said he wasn’t really wowed by Milroe last season and mentioned that maybe Milroe just didn’t click with his coaches.
Finebaum also doesn’t think Milroe should go too early in the draft—he suggested round three or later. Still, he did say that if someone grabs him earlier, it’d be a big win for Milroe. He even brought up Jalen Hurts as an example—people doubted Hurts too, and now he’s a Super Bowl MVP.
On the flip side, NFL.com’s Eric Edholm thinks Milroe could go in the first round. His mock draft has Milroe landing with the New York Giants at pick No. 24 after a trade with the Vikings. Edholm has four QBs going in round one, with Milroe behind Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, and Jaxson Dart.
The NFL Draft kicks off Thursday at 8 PM ET on ESPN and NFL Network.
