Crimson Tide’s New Leader Inspires Hoover Crowd with Steady Message

Kalen DeBoer Still Soaking in the ‘Roll Tide’ Love in Alabama

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer is still getting used to just how loud things get when he says “Roll Tide” in public. At a packed ballroom event at the Hyatt Regency Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, the crowd instantly fired back with a thunderous response.

DeBoer was the keynote speaker at the 42nd Annual Hoover Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday. While he touched on his travels across Alabama and his football journey, his message went deeper—focusing on staying the course, having faith, and finding purpose through life’s ups and downs.

He shared lessons from his early days in South Dakota to now leading one of college football’s biggest programs. A former coach once told him, “Stay the course and keep the faith,”—words that still guide him.

“There are always highs and lows,” DeBoer said. “But you’ve got to keep going.”

Before his talk, local pastors offered prayers for the city, and Mayor Frank Brocato welcomed DeBoer while reminding everyone to reflect on how faith plays a role in the community.

DeBoer closed by saying he’s excited about his time in Alabama and believes there’s a bigger purpose at play for the Crimson Tide.

“There’s a greater plan here at Alabama that we haven’t realized yet,” he said. “We all have a platform to make a difference.”
