On May 11, he saved two games in one day against No. 6 Georgia, with his first save setting a new Alabama record for saves in a season. He now has 16 saves, surpassing the previous record by two. Despite throwing multiple innings and sometimes pitching in back-to-back games, Ozmer’s earned run average sits at an impressive 2.10.
“I’ve had my fair share of tough outings,” Ozmer said. “You just have to flip the switch—sulk for a bit and then forget about it.”
Alabama’s second-year coach, Rob Vaughn, praised Ozmer for stepping up in tough situations. “There’s no player who’s perfect all the time, but Carson’s mental toughness and selflessness really stand out,” Vaughn said.
Ozmer’s ability to step up in big moments, like coming in twice in one day, is a huge asset to Alabama’s bullpen, especially after losing their closer in the offseason. Ozmer’s attitude, always focused on what he can do for the team, has been key for Alabama as they push toward the postseason.
Alabama won the second game of the day 5-4, securing their first series win of the season after losing the first game. With two SEC series wins now under their belt, the Crimson Tide is rolling.
