Jack Campbell Tipped to Become NFL’s Top Linebacker in 2025

After a rough end to the 2024 season, the Detroit Lions defense is looking to bounce back—and linebacker Jack Campbell might just lead the charge. Injuries piled up late last year, and Detroit’s defense struggled mightily against the Bills and Commanders. But 2025 brings new hope, and one of the team’s rising stars is getting major recognition.

According to Pro Football Focus, Jack Campbell has the potential to become the best linebacker in the NFL this season. Dalton Wasserman highlighted the third-year defender as a breakout candidate, citing his steady improvement and growing impact on the field.

Campbell was a force from day one after being drafted 18th overall in 2023. He racked up 95 tackles in his rookie season, then took things to another level in 2024 with 131 total tackles, five passes defended, a forced fumble, and another five tackles for loss—all while starting every game.

With Derrick Barnes back healthy and re-signed, Detroit’s linebacker room is looking strong heading into the fall. Campbell’s leadership and production have already turned heads, and if he keeps ascending, the Lions may have one of the league’s elite defenders on their hands.

Not bad for a guy entering just his third year.
