Victor Kiprop’s Got That SEC Crown on Lock (Again)
Alabama’s Victor Kiprop is officially allergic to losing the 10,000-meter race. The guy just pulled off his fourth straight SEC title Thursday night in Kentucky, closing with a clutch come-from-behind sprint and clocking in at 30:10.85.
That makes him the first dude in SEC history to win this event four years in a row — and for Bama, it’s eight straight years of dominance in the 10K. Dynasty? Yeah, we’d say so.
Kiprop didn’t do it alone, either. The Tide packed the top 10 with Dismus Lokira (3rd), Hillary Cheruiyot (6th), and Dennis Kipruto (8th). That squad effort stacked up 20 big points for the men’s team.
So where does Bama sit after Day One at the SEC Championships? The men are in second place with 26 points, while the women are hanging in 12th with 3 points — and there’s still two days of action left to shake things up.
Also worth shouting out: RJ Decker threw a hammer like Thor, launching a personal-record 68.39 meters to snag bronze.
Stay tuned. More SEC chaos incoming.
