Someone Call Security — Derrick Henry’s Mugging the NFL Record Book in Broad Daylight

Derrick Henry’s Still Truckin’ — And He’s Got History in His Sights

Derrick Henry just secured the bag — again. The former Alabama star signed a 2-year, $30 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens, making him the highest-paid running back over 30 in NFL history. Not bad for a guy still out here stiff-arming folks into the next dimension.

Henry’s been terrorizing defenses for nearly a decade now. He’s a two-time NFL rushing champ, led the league in rushing touchdowns three times, made five Pro Bowls, and was the AFC’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2020. Oh, and he came this close to snagging MVP that year, too.

Right now, King Henry sits at No. 19 on the NFL’s all-time rushing list with 11,423 yards. That’s still about 7,000 short of Emmitt Smith’s ridiculous 18,355-yard record, but Henry’s not done yet.

Realistically, catching Emmitt is a stretch — Henry’s 31 and already has a ton of miles on those legs — but the dude could still leapfrog a bunch of legends if he stays healthy and productive. Give him five more solid seasons, and we might be talking about Henry in the top five all-time.

He may not end his career as the G.O.A.T., but he’s already running with the greats. And honestly? He’s still got plenty of gas left in the tank.
