The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to bring some nostalgia back to the field this 2025 season with new throwback uniforms and helmets. Known for their classic black and gold look, the team will be reviving a gold helmet style that dates back to their founding years from 1933 to 1962, as well as for special throwback games between 2007 and 2010.
Steelers president Art Rooney confirmed the team will debut these new throwbacks during their Sunday night game against the Green Bay Packers on October 26. He emphasized how fitting it is to wear the retro look against one of the NFL’s oldest franchises.
In addition, the Steelers plan to rock their Color Rush uniforms late in the season, specifically during a Monday night showdown with the Miami Dolphins on December 15. These uniforms are expected to feature the revamped gold helmets paired with mostly white uniforms and black pants, echoing the historic style fans remember.
While the Steelers have often been praised for their timeless uniforms, their throwbacks have received mixed reviews due to how old some of the designs appear by today’s standards. Still, this fresh take on their classic look aims to celebrate the team’s rich 91-year history and pay homage to the Rooney family legacy.
Fans can look forward to these special game day uniforms as the Steelers continue their 2025 campaign with one of the NFL’s most iconic looks getting a modern twist.
