Lions, Eagles Pegged as NFL’s Most Likely Division Champs to Fall in 2025

The Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles, both reigning division champions, are considered among the most vulnerable teams heading into the 2025 NFL season.

Detroit Lions:

Despite a franchise-best 15–2 record in 2024, the Lions’ season ended abruptly with a 45–31 playoff loss to the Washington Commanders.   Analysts express concerns about the Lions’ ability to maintain their dominance, citing potential challenges from improved division rivals and the pressure to replicate their previous success.

Philadelphia Eagles:

The Eagles, after clinching the NFC East with a 14–3 record and winning Super Bowl LIX, face a daunting 2025 schedule.  They are set to play against 11 teams that made the playoffs in 2024, including formidable opponents like the Chiefs, Rams, and Bills.   Additionally, the NFC East has not seen a repeat champion in nearly two decades, adding to the Eagles’ challenges.

Both teams will need to navigate these hurdles to defend their division titles in the upcoming season.
