South Carolina Snags Alabama’s Justin Okoronkwo for Linebacker Boost

The South Carolina Gamecocks football team just made a solid move by adding linebacker Justin Okoronkwo, who recently transferred from Alabama. Okoronkwo, a 6-foot-3, 228-pound freshman from Munich, Germany, entered the transfer portal last weekend and has now decided to join the Gamecocks.

During his one season with Alabama, he played in all 13 games, mostly contributing on special teams and as a backup linebacker. He finished with 14 tackles and half a tackle for loss. Before his football career, Okoronkwo was involved in soccer and gymnastics in Germany but switched to American football about five years ago. His strong performances at college camps earned him offers from big schools like Michigan, Penn State, and South Carolina, but he ultimately chose Alabama.

This adds depth to the Gamecocks’ linebacker group, as Okoronkwo is the second transfer from Alabama, following linebacker Shawn Murphy, who also joined South Carolina in December. Fans are eager to see what Okoronkwo’s international experience and diverse athletic background will bring to the team next season.
