The 2025 SEC Baseball Tournament wrapped up in Hoover, and it was Vanderbilt walking away with the trophy—again. That’s five titles now for the Commodores, who edged out Ole Miss 3-2 in a tight game on Sunday.
Vandy came into the tourney as the 4th seed and knocked off 7th-seeded Ole Miss in a single-elimination showdown. This year was the first time the SEC switched to the one-and-done format, and the week brought everything from weather delays to big upsets.
The SEC has been stacked this season, so expect to see plenty of teams making the cut when the NCAA tournament field is revealed.
Two of those teams? Right here in Alabama. Both Auburn and Alabama are projected to make it in.
Bama, the 9-seed in the SEC tourney, got past Missouri in the first round but didn’t last long—Tennessee knocked them out in the second.
Auburn came in as the 6-seed and had high hopes of locking in a regional host spot. They got a first-round bye but were upset by 14-seed Texas A\&M right out of the gate. Even with the early exit, D1 Baseball still has the Tigers pegged as a #1 seed and one of the 16 regional hosts.
As for Alabama, they’re projected as a #2 seed in the Hattiesburg Regional, which Southern Miss is expected to host.
We’ll find out for sure when the NCAA baseball selection show airs Monday, May 26 at noon on ESPN2.
