Lions Are Back on a Mission in 2025 — And Dan Campbell Isn’t Sweating a Thing
The Detroit Lions are heading into the 2025 season with one goal: finish what they started. After a monster 2024 season with 15 wins and the top NFC seed, things came to a heartbreaking halt when they got bounced by the Commanders in their first playoff game. Ouch.
Now, with a fresh batch of coordinators and some big expectations, you’d think head coach Dan Campbell might be feeling the heat. Spoiler alert: he’s not.
“I’m not worried about the pass rush, not worried we lost two coordinators, not worried about injuries, the Hall of Fame Game, the schedule—none of it,” Campbell said on Friday. “Honestly, I think everything’s lining up perfectly for us. This is year five for me, year five for our core guys… it’s exactly what we need.”
Campbell also addressed the injury bug that hit the team hard in 2024—especially on defense—and he’s not losing sleep over that either.
“There’s nothing anyone can do about injuries,” he said bluntly. “If we get hit with 20 injuries again, yeah, it’s a problem. But until then? I’m not gonna waste energy worrying.”
The man is locked in.
Meanwhile, QB Jared Goff is looking ahead with excitement—and a little tease for fans. Even with a new offensive coordinator in John Morton, Goff says the offense won’t just be “business as usual.”
“We’re always looking to level up,” Goff said. “We want to clean up what didn’t work last year and get sharper. Doesn’t matter if the system’s new or not—you’re always adding wrinkles. And Morton’s definitely putting his own flavor on it.”
Morton’s no stranger to the Lions; he was on staff in 2022 and helped build the foundation of the offense we’ve seen since. With Ben Johnson gone, it’ll be interesting to see how Morton tweaks the playbook—and how the Lions adapt.
Bottom line? New faces, same fire. Detroit isn’t backing down.
