Yankees Fans Who Snatched Baseball from Mookie Betts Get Lifetime MLB Ban

Two Yankees fans, Austin Capobianco and John P. Hansen, were banned from all MLB games and facilities after they interfered with Mookie Betts during Game 4 of the 2024 World Series. The incident happened when they reached over the fence to mess with Betts, who was trying to catch a foul ball. One fan grabbed Betts’ glove while the other grabbed his bare hand. They were ejected from the game and had their tickets for Game 5 taken away.

MLB called their actions dangerous and unacceptable, saying they put Betts’ safety at risk. The Yankees also condemned their behavior, emphasizing that player and fan safety is the top priority at Yankee Stadium. Capobianco and Hansen were sitting in seats belonging to a season-ticket holder who couldn’t attend, but that person still gets to keep their tickets.

While the Yankees won Game 4, the Dodgers went on to win Game 5 and claim the championship.
