Detroit Lions Drone Show Rescheduled for Tonight Due to Weather
The much-anticipated Detroit Lions drone show, originally set for Friday, has been delayed and will now take place tonight at 7:00 p.m. The show will feature hundreds of drones launching from the Riverfront Festival Plaza. The area will be closed off for the event, but the spectacle will be visible from various locations throughout the city, with downtown Windsor being the prime viewing spot.
If you’re in the area and can see the Caesars Windsor hotel towers, you’ll likely have a great view of the show. Windsor residents got a preview of the excitement on Friday, with celebrations already in full swing.
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens expressed gratitude for the event, stating, “We thank the Detroit Lions for this generous gift to our community, and for ensuring Canadian fans can join in the excitement of these playoffs. This is another solid opportunity to highlight the Windsor-Detroit region’s strong reputation as a world-class sports tourism destination and to reinforce our identity as the ultimate ‘Two Nation Destination.’”
For those heading downtown, Ouellette Avenue will be closed from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to facilitate the event.

Dan Campbell’s Bold Coaching Style Redefines Detroit Lions’ Culture
DETROIT (AP) — Head Coach Dan Campbell has transformed the Detroit Lions’ approach to fourth-down plays, making them a cornerstone of the team’s strategy. His fearless, go-for-it mentality has reshaped the franchise, delivering record-breaking results and reinvigorating Lions fans.
Under Campbell, the Lions lead the NFL in fourth-down attempts, with a staggering 151 tries over the past four seasons—the most by any coach in a similar span since at least 1991, according to Sportradar.
“Our guys treat it as just the next down,” Campbell said. “It’s not do-or-die; it’s just football.”
Bold Gambles, Big Rewards
In his debut 2021 season, Campbell set a league record with 44 fourth-down attempts, even as the Lions endured a difficult 3-13-1 campaign. Since then, the strategy has paid dividends. In the 2024 season, Detroit scored or gained a first down on 66.7% of fourth-down attempts, ranking among the league’s best.
The Lions’ aggressive approach has helped manage game flow, such as their four fourth-down conversions in a thrilling 34-31 victory over Green Bay last month. Quarterback Jared Goff has also leveraged this strategy with hard counts to draw defenses offside, a tactic that proved pivotal in clinching the division against Minnesota.
A Culture of Confidence
The players have embraced Campbell’s faith in them. Safety Ifeatu Melifonwu noted, “On defense, we almost expect to see our offense stay out there. It’s just how we roll.”
Even rookie kicker Jake Bates, who broke the franchise scoring record with 142 points this season, supports the philosophy. “We’re 15-2,” Bates said. “What this coaching staff is doing works. Winning is way more fun than making kicks.”
Unprecedented Success
With the backing of General Manager Brad Holmes, Campbell has overseen an incredible turnaround. The Lions are 37-10 since November 2022, including back-to-back NFC North titles and the conference’s No. 1 playoff seed for the first time in franchise history. The team also set a franchise record with 15 wins this season.
As the Lions prepare for the playoffs, Campbell’s daring approach symbolizes the team’s transformation into a contender.
“They’ve figured out who I am,” Campbell said. “Some games we plan to be aggressive; others, it just happens. But it’s always about winning.”
