Nick Saban Surprised with Hall of Fame Induction on College GameDay
On January 10, 2025, Alabama football fans got a big surprise when Nick Saban, who had retired the year before, was announced as a member of the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame class. Saban was on the set of College GameDay for the Cotton Bowl when Rece Davis and the team broke the news. Saban, clearly shocked, was presented with a special football to mark the occasion.
Everyone saw this coming, though. With seven national titles and a career record of 297-79-1, including an incredible 206-29 mark at Alabama, Saban is widely regarded as the greatest college football coach ever. He’ll be the fifth Alabama coach to join the Hall of Fame, and he’ll be officially inducted in Las Vegas on December 9, 2025.

Alabama Running Backs Continue to Dominate in the NFL
It’s official—Alabama football is ruling the NFL when it comes to running backs. A mind-blowing stat from Deeg Sports shows that around 1 in every 6 touchdowns scored by an NFL running back in 2024 came from an Alabama alum. In total, Alabama RBs racked up 61 rushing TDs out of 379 total in the NFL.
Derrick Henry led the charge with 1,921 rushing yards, finishing second in the NFL behind Saquon Barkley. Jahmyr Gibbs had 20 total touchdowns and was 5th in rushing with 1,412 yards, even though he had fewer carries than most. Josh Jacobs and Najee Harris also had standout seasons with over 1,000 rushing yards each.
In total, Alabama alumni led the NFL with 7,055 rushing yards. This isn’t just a running back university—it’s a full-on NFL factory!
