The Detroit Lions saw Jameson Williams come into his own in the 2024 season, finally tapping into the talent they always believed he had. After a slow start to his NFL career, Williams found his rhythm and delivered his first 1,000-yard season — a clear sign he’s becoming a reliable weapon in Detroit’s offense.
Teaming up with two-time All-Pro Amon-Ra St. Brown, Williams helped form a dynamic duo that gave opposing defenses plenty to worry about. What made his breakout even more impressive is that he hit the 1,000-yard milestone on just 58 receptions — the lowest number of catches among players who reached that yardage last season. It speaks volumes about his blazing speed and big-play ability. Every time he touches the ball, there’s a real chance he breaks off something huge.
Former Lions wide receiver Allen Robinson recently discussed Williams’ impact during an interview with Woodward Sports, shedding light on just how valuable his skill set is for the team’s offense.
“Whenever you have a guy like Jamo who can have in the range of 50 catches and still have over 1,000 yards, there’s so much value in that because everybody else can also get their opportunities as well,” Robinson shared on Woodward Heavyweights. “You don’t have to force feed Jamo too much. You know he’s gonna get his. He almost averages an explosive play every time he touches the ball.”
Robinson pointed out that with so many playmakers on the roster, spreading the ball around becomes easier when you have someone like Williams, who doesn’t need a high volume of targets to make a huge difference.
