It took a little time, but Jameson Williams has finally blossomed into the playmaker the Detroit Lions were hoping for. After a slow start to his career, the former Alabama speedster broke out in 2024 with his first 1,000-yard season—and he did it with just 58 catches. Yeah, you read that right.
Williams wasn’t just another wideout putting up stats—he was exploding past defenders. His big-play ability gave the Lions’ offense a whole new dimension, making him the perfect deep-threat complement to All-Pro Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Former Lions receiver Allen Robinson recently weighed in on Williams’ value during an interview with Woodward Sports, and he didn’t hold back on the praise.
“When you’ve got a guy like Jamo who only needs 50-something catches to hit 1,000 yards, that’s crazy valuable,” Robinson said. “You don’t have to force him the ball—he’ll get his, and he makes it easier for everyone else to shine. He’s averaging an explosive play pretty much every time he touches it.”
With Williams stretching the field and defenses scrambling to keep up, Detroit’s loaded offense has even more room to operate. And if 2024 was a taste of what he can do, the Lions might just have one of the most dangerous receiving duos in the league heading into 2025.
