Three Lions Set to Tee Off in Rocket Classic Pro-Am This Wednesday

A few familiar faces from the Detroit Lions will swap helmets for golf clubs this week as they step onto the greens at Detroit Golf Club. It’s all part of the buzz leading up to the Rocket Mortgage Classic, one of the city’s marquee sporting events.

On Wednesday, June 25, the spotlight turns to the annual Pro-Am — a fun and competitive event where professional golfers are paired with celebrities and athletes. Representing the current Lions roster will be special teams trio: long snapper Hogan Hatten, punter Jack Fox, and kicker Jake Bates. These three are known for delivering under pressure on the field — now they’ll try to do the same on the fairway.

But the Lions’ legacy will also be well represented. Two fan favorites — Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders and legendary kicker Jason Hanson — are returning to delight the crowd in this off-field showcase.

It won’t just be Lions players making appearances. A mix of Detroit sports icons are expected to participate, including Dylan Larkin and Alex DeBrincat from the Detroit Red Wings, former NFL running back Jerome Bettis, and Sidney Lowe, assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons.

The main Rocket Classic tournament tees off on Thursday and runs through Sunday. Golf fans can look forward to a strong field, including last year’s champ Cam Davis and Keegan Bradley, fresh off a win at the Travelers Championship.

With star athletes from multiple sports coming together, this year’s Pro-Am promises to be a crowd-pleasing warm-up for the big event.
