Detroit’s About to Shock the League — and This News Is the First Spark

Detroit’s Got That Juice — Jahmyr Gibbs Ranked Among NFL’s Best Backs

Let’s be real — good news can’t come fast enough for the Detroit Lions. After losing both their offensive and defensive coordinators in the offseason, fans have been holding their breath. But fear not: this team still has plenty of talent, and it looks like one of its brightest young stars is getting some serious love ahead of the 2025-26 season.

We’re talking about Jahmyr Gibbs — and folks around the NFL are taking notice.

In a recent ESPN feature by Jeremy Fowler, NFL execs, coaches, and scouts were asked to rank the top 10 running backs in the league. Gibbs didn’t just make the list — he landed at No. 3. That’s right, the third-best RB in the entire NFL, behind only Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry. Not bad for a guy entering just his third year in the league.

And he’s earned it. In 2024, Gibbs absolutely cooked — leading the league with 20 rushing touchdowns. His 6.4 yards per touch? Best in the NFL over the past decade for players with at least 250 touches. That’s not just good — that’s elite.

One NFC scout put it this way: “Gibbs’ raw speed at 5-foot-9, 200 pounds can flip the game upside down in one play.” And if that doesn’t hype you up enough, an AFC executive even compared him to Reggie Bush — “just with a little more power.” The exec did admit that Gibbs’ size might always be a thing, but made it clear: his speed, instincts, and game-changing ability are next level.

Oh, and fantasy football players? Take note: PFF has Gibbs ranked No. 2 in their 2025 fantasy RB rankings. With a new offensive coordinator and running backs coach in Detroit, there’s buzz that Gibbs could be even more involved this year — and that means more touches, more big plays, and more reasons to believe the Lions might finally be headed toward something special.

Between Gibbs and David Montgomery in the backfield, Detroit is set to bring fireworks this fall. Buckle up — the season hasn’t even started yet, and the Lions are already making noise.
