Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell may be on the verge of a major breakout in 2025, according to a leading fantasy football analyst who sees big things ahead for the second-year defender.
FantasyGrid’s senior analyst Mark Dalton recently highlighted Campbell as one of his top breakout candidates at linebacker for the upcoming season. “All the pieces are there,” Dalton said. “He’s athletic, smart, and finally in a position to be a full-time leader on the field.”
Campbell, the Lions’ first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, showed flashes of promise during his rookie season but was limited at times in defensive snaps due to a deep linebacker rotation. However, with the departure of veteran Alex Anzalone and an expected increase in responsibility, Campbell is set to take on a much larger role in 2025.
“He’s going to be on the field more, and that’s crucial in fantasy football,” Dalton explained. “Snap count drives production, and Campbell is now in line to lead the team in tackles, quarterback pressures, and maybe even turnovers.”
During the 2024 season, Campbell recorded 82 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble in a rotational role. With more playing time and experience under his belt, many believe those numbers could skyrocket.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell has also praised the young linebacker’s offseason work ethic. “Jack’s one of the hardest workers we’ve got,” he said earlier this summer. “He’s hungry, he’s coachable, and he’s ready to take that next step.”
Fantasy managers looking for a late-round gem or IDP (Individual Defensive Player) steal may want to keep a close eye on Campbell in drafts. If he meets expectations, he could quickly rise from sleeper to staple in fantasy lineups.
With a revamped defensive scheme and a bigger spotlight, 2025 may be the year Jack Campbell fully unleashes his potential — both on the field and in fantasy football leagues.
