Brent Venables might be adding another former Oklahoma State player to his roster. Jeff Roberson, a linebacker who just entered the transfer portal, is visiting Oklahoma. According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Roberson is expected to commit to the Sooners.
Roberson, a graduate transfer, wasn’t a key player for OSU until this past season, when he became a starter due to injuries. He ended the season with 58 tackles, three sacks, and an interception. Prior to that, he mainly played on special teams and missed the 2022 season due to injury.
Roberson, originally a three-star recruit from Choctaw, Oklahoma, didn’t get an offer from OU out of high school but now has the chance to join them. If he commits, he’ll join former OSU linebacker Kendal Daniels, who is also transferring to OU. This adds to a growing trend of players crossing the Bedlam rivalry lines, with other recent examples being defensive end Trace Ford in 2022 and receiver Gavin Freeman in 2023. It’s likely this will keep happening, especially with the teams no longer facing each other every year.
