Jared Goff has the NFL world buzzing—and not because of his arm this time.
In a promo for Netflix’s Quarterback series, the Lions star revealed his top 10 all-time quarterbacks, and one glaring omission set off alarms across the football universe: Patrick Mahomes didn’t make the cut.
Yep, the same Mahomes who’s already racked up two MVPs, three Super Bowl trips, and a resume that’s putting him on GOAT watch… didn’t crack Goff’s list.
So who did? Goff went old school: Brady, Peyton, Montana, Elway, Brees, Rodgers, Favre, Big Ben, Eli, and—surprisingly—Philip Rivers. It’s a lineup heavy on retired legends, with Rodgers as the only active name.
Goff called Tom Brady the greatest of all time, which no one’s arguing. But leaving Mahomes off? That’s where things get spicy.
It’s clear Goff is basing his list on long-term legacy and career arcs rather than recency bias or flashy stats. Fair. But let’s be real—Mahomes is doing things we haven’t seen in a generation, and he’s not even 30.
Fans and analysts are already split. Some say Goff’s just being respectful to the old guard. Others think he’s throwing subtle shade or simply overlooking what Mahomes has accomplished in such a short time.
Either way, one thing’s certain: Goff knew this list would get people talking—and it definitely worked.
