The Detroit Lions may have taken a bit of a risk drafting Isaac TeSlaa, but just two days into training camp, that move is already starting to look promising.

TeSlaa, a former Razorback wide receiver, is turning heads with standout performances at the Lions’ Meijer Performance Center in Allen Park. During Friday’s session, fans got their first real taste of what he brings to the table — and it was impressive.

A video montage shared by the Lions featured TeSlaa catching a tough, contested ball over veteran cornerback Avonte Maddox. In another clip, he burned past Dicaprio Bootle on a deep post route, showcasing both strength and speed. It wasn’t long before the footage started spreading across social media, putting the rookie in the spotlight.

Before Saturday’s practice, Lions head coach Dan Campbell acknowledged the attention TeSlaa was getting. “Lovette has popped more early out on the field,” Campbell said, referring to first-round pick Dominic Lovette, “but I thought TeSlaa had a really good day yesterday. … He’s gotta stack another good day, but that was good to see yesterday. And that’s the first day of pads, by the way.”

Campbell got exactly what he asked for.

Instead of another highlight compilation, the Lions dedicated an entire video to TeSlaa on Saturday — this time, showing him make a clutch catch near the end zone, solidifying his status as a training camp riser.

TeSlaa’s draft selection turned some heads back in April, as he was the first Arkansas player taken — even before highly touted defensive end Landon Jackson. The Lions snagged him with the 70th overall pick in the third round, just two slots ahead of Jackson.

Now, with Detroit’s first preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers set for July 31, all eyes will be on TeSlaa to see if he can keep this momentum going.
