If you didn’t know Isaac TeSlaa’s name before the Lions’ Hall of Fame Game, you probably do now.
The undrafted rookie wide receiver made the most of his NFL debut Thursday night, stepping up with some crisp routes, solid grabs, and just flat-out making plays—as head coach Dan Campbell put it himself.
TeSlaa, who came to Detroit as a long shot to crack the roster, showed great awareness and toughness, especially when working the middle of the field. He didn’t light up the stat sheet, but he looked like he belonged, which is exactly what you want from a rookie in his first NFL action.
Campbell gave him props postgame, saying, “He made some plays, man. That was good to see.” And when Campbell starts talking like that, you know the coaching staff is paying attention.
In a crowded receiver room with names like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Josh Reynolds ahead of him, TeSlaa is still fighting an uphill battle. But Thursday’s performance? That was a step in the right direction. He’s putting good tape out there—and that matters.
He’ll need to keep stacking practices and preseason reps, but don’t be surprised if TeSlaa’s name keeps popping up as one of those “camp risers” who just might earn a spot—or at least stick around on the practice squad.
