Lions Say Goodbye to Veteran Linebacker After Nearly a Decade

The Detroit Lions are officially closing the book on one of their longest-tenured defenders. After seven seasons in Honolulu blue, the team has released their veteran linebacker, signaling the end of an era in Detroit.

The move doesn’t come as a total shock — the Lions have been stacking up depth at linebacker through recent drafts and free agency — but it still stings for fans who watched him grow into a reliable presence on defense and in the locker room. Over the years, he was known less for flashy stats and more for his consistency, toughness, and leadership on and off the field.

While his role had been shrinking in recent seasons, his influence in the locker room remained strong. Dan Campbell and the Lions’ staff have made it clear they’re focused on building a younger, faster defense, and sometimes that means making the tough calls with vets who’ve given their all.

Seven years in Detroit is no small feat, and while his next chapter is unknown, it’s safe to say he’ll be remembered as a grinder who gave everything to the Lions’ resurgence.
